Mâcon-Péronne Cuvée 1872 2024 Domaine de la Tour Penet
The 2024 Mâcon-Péronne Cuvée 1872 by Domaine de la Tour Penet comes from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, where Chardonnay finds a distinctive balance between generous fruit and limestone-driven freshness. The cuvée takes its name from 1872, the year associated with the Ferret family's original vineyard plantings, reflecting the estate's longstanding connection to the village of Péronne. Today, Anne Ramonet continues this family heritage through a thoughtful interpretation of the region's terroir.
The grapes are sourced from one of the domaine's oldest Chardonnay parcels, rooted in the limestone-rich soils surrounding Péronne. The maturity of the vines contributes to the wine's depth and concentration, while the character of the vineyard brings freshness and definition.
Vinification and maturation take place in both tanks and oak barrels, with a measured use of wood that complements the fruit without overwhelming its natural expression. Production of the 2024 vintage is limited to approximately 4,300 bottles.
The bouquet reveals fresh apple, citrus and stone fruit, accompanied by delicate floral notes, subtle herbal nuances and a restrained touch of oak. On the palate, the wine is broad, supple and creamy, with generous fruit supported by vibrant acidity. A fine mineral impression adds precision, while the long finish combines texture, freshness and understated complexity.
The 2024 Mâcon-Péronne Cuvée 1872 pairs beautifully with baked fish, shellfish, mushroom risotto and poultry served with delicate sauces. Its balance between richness and freshness makes it a versatile companion to refined cuisine.
An old-vine Chardonnay that expresses the character of southern Burgundy through depth, tension and elegance, reflecting the winemaking heritage of Domaine de la Tour Penet.
