Lucente 2021 Frescobaldi
The Lucente 2021 by Frescobaldi embodies the contemporary soul of Tuscany, where tradition meets innovation. It is produced at the Tenuta Luce estate in Montalcino, one of the region’s most renowned areas for fine red wines. Surrounded by rolling hills and sunlit vineyards, the estate captures the essence of this exceptional terroir, combining Italian character with French-inspired elegance.
Lucente is the result of a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, two grape varieties that complement each other beautifully. The Sangiovese contributes structure, freshness, and intensity, while the Merlot adds softness, roundness, and rich fruit expression. Together, they create a wine that is both powerful and refined, approachable yet complex.
Harvested separately – Merlot in early September and Sangiovese later in the month – the grapes are carefully vinified in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (28 °C) with maceration on the skins for about 20 days. The wine then ages for 15 months in French oak barriques, partially new, allowing it to gain balance, smoothness, and depth before bottling.
In the glass, Lucente 2021 shows a deep ruby red color with violet hues. The bouquet is rich and expressive, offering notes of ripe blackberries, cherries, and plums, followed by sweet spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and delicate hints of oak. On the palate, it is velvety, full-bodied, and well-balanced, with refined tannins and a lingering, elegant finish.
