Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 by Giovanni Canonica is a red wine that fully embodies the purest expression of its grape and its land. Handcrafted and uncompromising, it reflects the traditional soul of the Langhe with clarity and grace.
Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in Grinzane Cavour, the vineyard is cultivated without synthetic chemicals, according to strict natural principles. After a careful manual harvest, spontaneous fermentation takes place, with a 10-day maceration on the skins. The wine is then aged for 10 months in steel tanks and bottled without fining or filtration—pure and honest winemaking.
In the glass, it displays a pale ruby red hue with garnet highlights. The nose is intense and expressive, revealing notes of ripe cherry, wild rose, mint, dried violet, and undertones of cocoa and sweet spices. On the palate, it’s warm, elegant, and enveloping, yet bright and mineral, with firm tannins and vibrant acidity that give it structure and tension. The finish is long, savory, and deeply satisfying.
Far from being just an “entry-level” wine, this Langhe Nebbiolo is a gateway to the iconic Barolos of Canonica, whose small production and cult status have made them highly sought after. A true artisanal gem that speaks the authentic language of its land and time.
