Immersed in the charm of past decades, the Old Brandy Gran Duque d'Alba from Bodegas Williams & Humbert is a collector's gem, preserving a tradition that dates back to the year 1877. Hailing from the renowned region of Jerez, this Spanish brandy, created around the 1970s, pays tribute to the great Fernando Álvarez de Toledo y Pimentel, the Grand Duke of Alba.
Its production is an art passed down through the centuries, with distillation carried out with extreme care in stills operating at 65°C, resulting in an unbeatable beverage. The magic begins with the careful selection of Palomino and Airen white wines, followed by timely distillation, which determines the superior quality of the distillates.
What truly sets this brandy apart is its aging process, occurring in American oak barrels previously filled with Oloroso wine. Following the traditional Criaderas and Soleras system, this brandy embarks on its journey in the tenth criadera before descending to the solera, ensuring homogeneous and controlled maturation.
Rigor in managing the volume of sacas, or periodic extractions, is essential to preserve the consistency and depth of its age.
