Since the inception of Grand Duque de Alba brandy in 1945, it has been an icon of excellence in the world of spirits. Its origins are rooted in a longstanding friendship: the agent of Bodegas Williams & Humbert in Madrid, closely associated with Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart y Falcó, the XVII Duke of Alba (father of the Duchess of Alba), sought permission to name the new brandy after the Duke. Upon tasting and appreciating it, the Duke suggested naming it after the Grand Duke of Alba, Fernando Álvarez de Toledo y Pimentel, a significant historical figure who enriched the House of Alba.
The brand's evolution did not stop there: in 1973, a massive international campaign brought Grand Duque de Alba brandy to all corners of the globe, with promotional tours that solidified its global fame. Additionally, renowned ceramist Antoni Cumella was commissioned to design a new bottle and stopper, giving the product a distinctive and prestigious appearance.
In 2018, Williams & Humbert decided to further renew the design of Brandy Grand Duque de Alba, while always maintaining a connection to the brand's historical roots. The new presentation, refined and elegant, features a superior-quality bottle with a more sleek and modern shape, embodying the contemporary essence of the brand. This renewal aims to offer consumers an even more exclusive visual and gustatory experience, while preserving the identity and craftsmanship that have made the brand famous over time.
