Fleurie La Vigne des Fous 2023 Marc Delienne
The Fleurie La Vigne des Fous 2023 represents the pinnacle of Gamay expression according to Marc Delienne, made from century-old vines in the Fleurie appellation of Beaujolais. The vines are managed organically and biodynamically, without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, favoring natural practices such as crop rotation, selective pruning, and compost and biodynamic preparations, while respecting lunar and solar cycles to enhance vine health and grape quality.
Grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously sorted in the vineyard. In the cellar, they undergo a pre-fermentative cold maceration for 7–10 days, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts for about 25 days in concrete tanks. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months, during which a controlled slight oxidation develops, enhancing aromatic complexity and depth.
Visually, the wine shows a deep, intense red color. The nose offers ripe red fruits such as cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, complemented by elegant spice, tobacco, and mineral notes. On the palate, it is rich, structured, and silky, with fine tannins and a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality. The finish is long and persistent, making it an ideal Fleurie for red meats, game, or aged cheeses.
