Fleurie “Greta Carbo” 2023 Marc Delienne
The Fleurie “Greta Carbo” 2023 is an excellent example of a cru Beaujolais crafted by Marc Delienne, one of the most respected producers of the Fleurie appellation. The vines, over 60 years old, are trained in gobelet at a density of approximately 11,000 vines per hectare, on granitic soils and ancient alluvial deposits, providing structure, minerality, and aromatic complexity.
Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates and carefully sorted in the cellar. The must is cooled to 5°C and vinified via carbonic maceration in a CO₂-saturated concrete tank, maintained at 8°C. During the three-week maceration, the juice is gently extracted daily, followed by pressing and completion of fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 4 months in fifth-use barrels, adding finesse and balance while preserving freshness.
On the nose, the 2023 Greta Carbo reveals ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by delicate floral hints. The palate is fresh, elegant, and harmonious, with soft tannins and easy drinkability, reflecting the unique Fleurie terroir. Ideal for early consumption, it pairs beautifully with white meats, charcuterie, fresh cheeses, or casual gatherings, showcasing Marc Delienne’s skill in expressing Gamay and the Beaujolais terroirs.
