Conteisa 2017 Gaja
Conteisa by Gaja represents a refined and modern interpretation of Barolo. First released in 1996, its name refers to the historical “conteisa” or dispute between the communes of La Morra and Barolo over the prestigious Cerequio cru, one of the most acclaimed vineyard sites in the region.
Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the grapes are grown in carefully selected plots within La Morra, on calcareous and marl-rich soils known for producing elegant, age-worthy wines. The wine is aged for approximately 30 months in a combination of barriques and large oak casks, reflecting Gaja’s hallmark style: a balance between structure, finesse, and longevity.
Conteisa shows a deep ruby color in the glass. The nose is complex and refined, with notes of wild berries, dried rose petals, black pepper, leather, sweet spices, and a touch of balsamic herbs. On the palate, it is structured yet harmonious, with velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, persistent finish.
A wine of contemplation and precision, Conteisa perfectly captures the elegance of La Morra and the innovative spirit of Gaja, offering immense cellaring potential and beauty.
