Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2019 L’Oratoire des Papes
L’Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a white wine of remarkable freshness and depth, crafted to highlight the limestone and safre soils of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Grapes are hand-harvested early, preserving high acidity and delicate aromas.
Whole bunches undergo a Champagne-style gentle pressing for 7 to 8 hours—much longer than usual—to extract only the purest juice. Fermentation takes place in 80% tulip-shaped concrete vats and 20% French oak barrels (300L), creating a natural vortex that keeps fine lees suspended without bâtonnage in the concrete vats.
Aging continues on full lees, with bâtonnage performed only in the barrels. The final blend is assembled in spring (March–May), depending on the vintage.
In the glass, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc shows white flowers, citrus, herbs, and subtle honeyed notes. The palate is rich, saline and textural, finishing with a pleasant bitterness and mineral persistence that enhances its food-pairing potential.
A complex and age-worthy white wine, perfect with seafood, white meats, or soft cheeses.
