Champagne Belle Epoque 2006 Perrier-Jouët
Decorated with the white Japanese anemone, a motif created for the maison in 1902 by Émile Gallé, a master of Art Nouveau, Perrier-Jouët's Belle Époque Blanc de Blancs cuvée is the maison's most prestigious and iconic. This champagne is made from Chardonnay grapes from a single vineyard of 6.8 hectares, Bouron Leroi and Bouron du Midi, the first two parcels acquired by the Maison in the mid-19th century.
Located in Cramant on limestone soil with a south-eastern exposure, this terroir classified as a Grand Cru reveals all the potential and aromatic characteristics of Chardonnay. The grapes used all come from the 2006 harvest, an exceptional year for Champagne, which made it possible to harvest grapes with a perfect balance between sugars, acidity and aromatic purity. With a dosage of 8 g/l, this Champagne is aged for a minimum of 6 years in the Maison's chalky cellars.
To the eye it expresses a brilliant golden yellow colour, with an extremely elegant, fine and persistent perlage. The nose offers a complex bouquet of floral aromas such as acacia, hawthorn, lilac and elderflower, fruity notes of apple and pineapple, honey and candied lemon peel, then toasted hazelnuts and pastry notes. The taste is full, aromatic, balanced by a lovely freshness, enchanting with an extraordinary elegance and silkiness that pervades the mouth for a very long finish.
