Barolo Ravera 2017 Vietti
The Barolo Ravera by Vietti stands among the most refined and long-lived expressions of Barolo. It hails from the Ravera vineyard in the commune of Novello, one of the highest-altitude crus in the denomination. Its marl and limestone soils give birth to a Nebbiolo of great tension, complexity, and minerality.
Vietti, one of Piedmont’s historic producers, was among the first to highlight single-vineyard Barolos in the 1960s. Today, it continues this tradition with uncompromising precision. The 30-year-old vines are cultivated at around 400 meters above sea level, using sustainable viticulture. Vinification follows a traditional method with open-top fermentation tanks, long maceration on the skins, and aging for about 30 months in large oak barrels, followed by further bottle refinement.
The wine shows a brilliant garnet color, with a bouquet of dried rose, cherry, violet, wild herbs, liquorice, and hints of spice and graphite. On the palate, it’s structured, vertical, and finely tannic, with bright acidity and a powerful, long finish—built for decades of aging.
A meditative and collectible Barolo, perfect with braised meats, game, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses. One of the finest examples of Vietti’s mastery and of the new classicism of the Langhe.
