Barolo Lazzarito 2018 Vietti
The Barolo Lazzarito by Vietti is one of the most robust and age-worthy expressions of Barolo, coming from the prestigious Lazzarito vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba. This area is known for producing wines with firm structure, minerality, and great longevity, thanks to its iron-rich clay-limestone soils and high elevation vineyards.
The 35+ year old vines are grown sustainably at around 350 meters above sea level, facing optimal sun exposure. Vietti follows traditional winemaking techniques: fermentation in stainless steel, long maceration on the skins, and aging for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by further bottle aging before release.
In the glass, it reveals an intense garnet-red color. The nose is layered and complex, showing aromas of dried violet, rhubarb, ripe red fruits, dark spices, graphite, and tobacco. The palate is powerful yet poised, with tightly-knit tannins, vibrant acidity, and a persistent mineral-balsamic finish. This is a Barolo that rewards patience and evolves beautifully over decades.
Perfectly paired with game meats, aged cheeses, braised beef, or white truffle risotto, Lazzarito is a benchmark Barolo for collectors and enthusiasts seeking depth and terroir expression.
