Barbaresco Starderi 2020 La Spinetta
The Barbaresco Starderi DOCG by La Spinetta is one of the boldest and most expressive Nebbiolo wines from the Barbaresco area. It comes from the Starderi cru in Neive (CN), a 4.5-hectare south-west-facing vineyard planted at 230 meters above sea level. The vines, averaging 55 years of age, grow on bluish calcareous marl soils with traces of clay, ideal for producing wines of structure and aromatic depth.
Vinification includes a 14–15 day maceration in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques (20% new) and aging for 20–22 months, plus 6 months in bottle before release.
In the glass, it shows great energy and refinement. The nose reveals ripe plum, floral notes, and subtle spice, while the palate is powerful yet smooth, supported by velvety tannins and a long, warm finish.
While enjoyable when young, Starderi reaches its full potential with age. In outstanding vintages, La Spinetta produces approximately 400 Magnum Riserva bottles per year, aged for over 10 years.
This wine is an ideal match for braised meats, roast lamb, game, or aged cheeses. A benchmark Barbaresco for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
