Barbaresco Gallina 2019 La Spinetta
The Barbaresco Gallina DOCG by La Spinetta is an alluring and harmonious expression of 100% Nebbiolo, made from the Gallina cru in Neive (CN), one of the most prestigious vineyard sites in the Barbaresco appellation. Sitting at 250 meters above sea level with a southern exposure, the 5.5-hectare vineyard is planted on calcareous-marly soils rich in light sand, and the vines average 55 years of age.
After a 14–15 day maceration in temperature-controlled tanks, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels (20% new), followed by an aging period of 20–22 months in wood and 6 months in bottle. The result is a structured yet silky wine, where velvety tannins, ripe red fruit, and floral notes come together in a graceful, persistent finish.
With its refined texture and aromatic depth, Barbaresco Gallina pairs beautifully with porcini mushroom risotto, braised poultry, and aged cheeses. First produced in 1995, it is the most sensual and rounded Barbaresco in La Spinetta’s portfolio.
In exceptional vintages, a limited number of Magnum Riserva bottles—only about 500 per year—are released after over 10 years of aging, reflecting the grandeur of this cru.
