Barbaresco Cavanna 2010 Luigi Giordano
The Barbaresco Cavanna 2010 by Luigi Giordano comes from the renowned Cavanna MGA, located in the municipality of Barbaresco, one of the most historic and respected areas for producing elegant, long-lived Nebbiolo wines. The vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate created by hillside exposure and the ascending air currents from the nearby Tanaro River, allowing for a slow and complete phenolic ripening, typically achieved in the second week of October.
Vinification follows a traditional and meticulous approach, with a 20–25 day skin maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, supported by frequent pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in steel, preserving varietal purity and aromatic clarity.
The wine is aged for 18–24 months in large Slavonian oak casks (30–50 hectoliters), using approximately 25-year-old wood, ensuring a balanced and gradual evolution without overpowering the fruit. Bottling usually takes place in July, after around three years of barrel aging, under favorable temperature conditions to minimize oxidation risks. This is followed by further bottle aging in controlled environments.
In the glass, Barbaresco Cavanna 2010 shows depth, harmony and finesse, with well-integrated tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, persistent finish. A classic Barbaresco, built for long-term aging and capable of evolving beautifully over time.
