List of products by brand TAPPERO MERLO

Tappero Merlo is a boutique winery located in the Canavese area of Piedmont, within the unique morainic amphitheatre of Ivrea shaped by the ancient Balteo glacier. Founded on a deep respect for nature and local heritage, the estate focuses on Erbaluce, the historic native grape variety of the region, crafting age-worthy white wines that reflect alpine minerality, freshness and terroir authenticity.

Established in 2001 as a return to family roots, the winery combines traditional viticulture with modern sustainable practices, producing Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG in still, Traditional Method sparkling and Passito styles, all characterized by precision, elegance and remarkable longevity.

The Tappero Merlo winery is rooted in a philosophy of environmental respect and territorial identity. Its vineyards cover approximately three hectares across Parella, Colleretto Giacosa, Loranzè and Piverone, on the inner slopes of the Ivrea Morainic Amphitheatre. These soils, formed around 10,000 years ago by glacial retreat, are sandy, highly acidic and extremely poor in organic matter, conditions that enhance minerality and natural acidity in the wines.

Viticulture is entirely natural, with green manure techniques, self-produced compost, mycorrhizae, plant-based treatments and minimal copper and sulfur use. No chemical herbicides are applied, and biodiversity is actively preserved. Vines are trained using the Guyot system with low yields to ensure concentration and quality.

In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, large oak ageing and extended bottle maturation define the style. The main grape cultivated is Erbaluce, an ancient alpine variety known for its versatility and ageing potential, complemented by the rediscovered Malvasia Moscata.

Tappero Merlo wines express the alpine character of Piedmont through citrus freshness, complex salinity and distinctive mineral depth.
