The Valgella Vigna Fracia – Valtellina Superiore DOCG is crafted from a historic single vineyard owned by Nino Negri since 1897, located at the confluence of alpine valleys shaped by glaciers. The cold mountain breezes and unique microclimate result in a slower Nebbiolo ripening, giving the wine depth, structure, and elegant aromatics.
This unusual site contrasts alpine chill with spontaneous Mediterranean flora like rosemary and lavender, which impart distinctive spicy and herbal aromas to the wine. The 2018 vintage was marked by a snowy winter, cool spring, and a balanced summer, producing perfectly ripe and healthy grapes.
The wine shows a deep ruby color with garnet hues, and an expressive nose with wild rose, violet, and alpine herbs. On the palate, it is dry and full-bodied, with firm, rich tannins, vibrant acidity, and a savory, persistent finish. A year of additional bottle aging enhances balance and aromatic complexity.
