JORDI LLORENS

Jordi LLorence Grandi Bottiglie

Jordi Llorens, Spanish sustainable winemaker

Jordi Llorens is a young Spanish winemaker, specifically from southern Catalunya. Jordi's family has at least eight generations of vine growers and winemakers, but he founded his own company in 2008.

Today the estate has a total of around 20 hectares of land where, in addition to olive and almond trees, 14 hectares of typical local grapes such as Macabeu and Moscatell are grown, along with a few parcels of international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Being a geologist, Jordi knows his land to perfection, composed mainly of limestone soils and a small percentage of clay. According to a highly sustainable and environmentally friendly philosophy, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, chemicals are banned and interventions are kept to a minimum.

Fermentation takes place spontaneously with two or more varieties together, while ageing takes place in steel, small wood and amphorae, which Jordi appreciates very much. Starting with just a few tinajas, he has now built a new place where you can also find Georgian-style buried amphorae.
