Pinot Nero 2022 Grosjean
The Pinot Noir 2022 by Grosjean is a refined expression of the noble Burgundian grape in the unique alpine context of the Aosta Valley. Cultivated organically in the communes of Quart and Saint-Christophe, the vines benefit from steep, sun-drenched slopes, sandy and stony soils, and the region’s hallmark temperature variations, which ensure the development of aromatic complexity and perfect balance.
The vines, 30 to 40 years old, are managed according to organic farming principles, using only copper, sulfur and natural manure. Harvested by hand in mid-September, the grapes are gently processed to preserve their delicate aromas. Fermentation takes place with 70% destemmed grapes and 30% whole clusters, macerating on the skins for around 10 days at 28–30°C, using indigenous yeasts. The wine then ages for a few months, half in stainless steel and half in wood, before final refinement in bottle.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color with light garnet reflections. The nose is fragrant and layered, revealing red currant, raspberry, black cherry and wild strawberry, complemented by floral, herbal and spicy hints. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins, gentle freshness and a long, mineral finish that evokes its alpine origin.
A graceful and expressive Pinot Noir, perfect with white meats, game birds, truffle-based dishes or semi-aged cheeses. It embodies Grosjean’s dedication to mountain viticulture and natural winemaking.
