Maranges Bas des Loyères Rouge 2018 Petit Roy
The Maranges Bas des Loyères Rouge 2018 from Domaine Petit Roy is a refined expression of Pinot Noir, cultivated with great care and attention by Seiichi Saito. This red wine hails from the Maranges region, renowned for its clay-limestone and marl soils, which impart extraordinary complexity and depth to the wine.
The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested to ensure the highest quality. Maceration takes place with 50% whole clusters, a process that adds structure and complexity to the wine. Fermentation is followed by 12 months of aging in used oak barrels, a choice that enhances the wine's characteristics without overwhelming them with oak flavors.
On the nose, the Maranges Bas des Loyères Rouge 20218 exudes notes of red cherries, complemented by spicy and floral hints. These aromas blend into a harmonious and inviting bouquet. On the palate, the wine amplifies the sensations perceived on the nose, offering a rich and satisfying tasting experience. The notes of red fruit and spices integrate perfectly, leading to a long, saline finish that highlights a pleasant minerality.
The Maranges terroir, with its clay-limestone and marl soils, is ideal for growing Pinot Noir. Seiichi Saito works with great precision, limiting yields to only 20 hl per hectare to extract the essence of the terroir. This practice, along with meticulous vinification, results in a wine that best reflects the character of its origin.
