The Malvasia 2023 by Miani is one of the most faithful expressions of the Buttrio terroir and of Enzo Pontoni’s meticulous winemaking philosophy. Miani, renowned for its extremely limited production — less than 10,000 bottles per year — has built a cult reputation by pursuing uncompromising quality, achieving extraordinary results across both reds and whites. This Malvasia fully embodies that vision, offering a wine of notable depth, tension and territorial purity.
In the glass it displays an intense straw-yellow colour. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of dried fruit, toasted almond, lemon zest, acacia honey and aromatic herbs, all tied together by a refined mineral backbone typical of the region’s Ponca soils. Despite a difficult vintage marked by drought and hail, the terroir’s marly-sandy composition emerges clearly, giving the wine its distinctive structure.
On the palate, the Malvasia 2023 is vibrant and energetic, driven by a marked acidity that enhances freshness while balancing the wine’s aromatic richness. The texture is full yet precise, with a long, sapid and harmonious finish. This is a white wine of rare personality, uniting intensity, elegance and a profound territorial imprint — an essential bottle for lovers of great Friulian wines.
