Lousas 2023 Envinate
Lousas is a biodynamic wine produced by Envinate, made from the indigenous Alicante grape varieties, 90% Mencia and Brancellao from old vines of about 60 years old in Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, located at an altitude between 400 and 600 meters above sea level. Soils in this area are mainly composed by slate and granite, where slate accumulates heat during the day which helps the ripening of vines and gives the wine those characteristic mineral aromas and flavors.
Both in the vineyard and in the cellar biodynamic viticulture methods are followed: the harvest is exclusively manual and human intervention is minimal. Fermentation is spontaneous, using only indigenous yeasts.
This combination of elements contributes to giving the wine an intense and unique character. Ruby red with purple reflections. The aromas are pure and "wild", bouquet of cherry skins, wild strawberries and flowers. As the flavors glide through the palate, they evoke dark cherries, juicy red grapes, blood orange, a hint of white pepper (typical of Mencia) and a touch of cold minerals.
REGION: Galicia (Spain)
GRAPE VARIETIES: 100% Listan Negro
VINIFICATION: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in large oak barrels for 11 months.
