Le Cloud Blanc 2014 Prieuré Roch
Le Cloud Blanc 2014 from Prieuré Roch is a rare and captivating expression of white Burgundy, made by one of the most iconoclastic and admired producers of the region. Founded by Henry-Frédéric Roch, former co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieuré Roch has gained cult status for its uncompromising biodynamic methods and the soulful depth of its wines.
Le Cloud Blanc is an unconventional white wine, made from a tiny plot of old-vine Chardonnay, possibly blended with obscure local white grapes. The estate practices strict biodynamics, harvests by hand, and allows spontaneous fermentation in used oak barrels, with no racking or filtration, preserving the wine’s raw elegance and mineral precision.
The 2014 vintage is focused and crystalline. On the nose, it reveals aromas of white stone fruits, preserved lemon, delicate spice, and a touch of flint. On the palate, it’s saline, vibrant, and multi-layered, with a long, transforming finish. A rare, cerebral white Burgundy, perfect for those seeking purity and uniqueness.
