Langhe Nebbiolo 2006 Cascina Torniero
The Langhe Nebbiolo 2006 by Cascina Torniero is an authentic expression of Nebbiolo, the iconic grape variety of Piedmont and a key protagonist of the Langhe wine region. This wine is produced from a careful selection of grapes from the estate’s vineyards, where vineyard management focuses on achieving optimal fruit quality and balance.
The vines grow on sandy-clay soils, a composition well suited to Nebbiolo cultivation. These soils promote proper ripening while contributing elegance and aromatic finesse to the wine. To enhance concentration and quality, yields are deliberately limited to around 60–65 quintals per hectare, resulting in more expressive and structured grapes.
Winemaking follows a traditional approach. After careful grape selection, fermentation includes an extended skin maceration lasting approximately 20–30 days, allowing gradual extraction of color, aromas and tannins from the Nebbiolo skins.
The aging process is divided into two phases. First, the wine rests for 10 months in stainless steel tanks, preserving freshness and varietal purity. It is then aged for about 18 months in bottle, allowing the wine to develop harmony and balance.
In the glass, the Langhe Nebbiolo 2006 shows a ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet is elegant and inviting, featuring red fruit and jam aromas, accompanied by delicate floral hints typical of Nebbiolo.
On the palate the wine is fresh, balanced and linear, with gentle tannins and pleasant persistence that make it both refined and approachable. With an alcohol content between 13.5% and 14.5%, it expresses the varietal character of Nebbiolo in a harmonious and elegant style.
Best served at 18 °C, this wine pairs beautifully with meat-based main courses, roasts and traditional Piedmontese dishes.
