The 1999 growing season provided ideal conditions for the production of a wine with remarkable balance and longevity. Following a relatively dry winter, the vineyards benefited from regular rainfall throughout the growing season. Although late August brought cooler temperatures and frequent rain, sunny and breezy conditions in September ensured complete ripening and exceptional grape quality.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity and precision of the fruit. The wine then undergoes an extraordinary ageing period of more than 90 months on the lees, developing the complexity, texture and finesse that have made Giulio Ferrari legendary among collectors and connoisseurs worldwide. The wine was disgorged in 2008 after nearly a decade of patient maturation.
In the glass, it reveals a bright straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights and an exceptionally fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet is broad, elegant and layered, offering aromas of ripe apple, white flowers, citrus fruits, bay leaf, white chocolate and delicate mineral nuances.
The palate is dry, vibrant and remarkably structured, combining freshness, precision and depth. A pronounced mineral backbone and lively acidity provide balance and energy, while the long finish unfolds with notes of almond, candied citrus and sophisticated tertiary aromas developed through extended ageing.
