The Chianti Classico “Tenuta Perano” Magnum 2020 represents one of the most iconic wines of Frescobaldi, a historic Tuscan family that has shaped Italian winemaking for centuries. This wine is born in the vineyards of Gaiole in Chianti, one of the most renowned and elevated areas of the denomination. The altitude and exposure ensure a slow, balanced ripening of the grapes, resulting in wines with remarkable freshness, aromatic depth, and structure.
The Tenuta Perano estate lies between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, its vineyards arranged in a natural amphitheater facing south and southwest. This unique position allows for excellent sunlight exposure and significant temperature variations between day and night, ideal for producing grapes of great concentration and finesse. The soils, composed mainly of galestro and alberese, are rich in minerals and well-draining, contributing to the wine’s vibrant character and elegant minerality.
Made primarily from Sangiovese, complemented by small amounts of other traditional red varieties, the wine undergoes a careful vinification process. After fermentation in stainless steel, it matures for 24 months in steel and barriques, achieving a perfect balance between freshness, texture, and aromatic complexity.
In the glass, it displays a bright violet-red color, while the nose opens with refined aromas of cherry, wild berries, red flowers, herbs, and subtle balsamic spices. On the palate, it is velvety and harmonious, with fine-grained tannins, medium body, and a long, lively finish that highlights its Chianti Classico soul.
