Chassagne-Montrachet “Cuvée Margot” 2024 Marc Colin
The Chassagne-Montrachet “Cuvée Margot” 2024 by Marc Colin comes from the heart of the Côte de Beaune, crafted from carefully selected village parcels that express an immediate and authentic interpretation of Burgundian Chardonnay. The cuvée is designed to highlight purity of fruit and the natural elegance of the Chassagne-Montrachet terroir, avoiding excess concentration in favour of clarity and finesse.
The Marc Colin estate is widely regarded as one of the most reliable references in Burgundy, known for its ability to combine technical precision with a strong sense of place. Within this context, “Margot” represents a more accessible expression of the domaine’s philosophy, where finesse and drinkability take precedence over power, without compromising depth or identity.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright and precise aromatic profile. The bouquet opens with white flowers and hawthorn, followed by green apple, lemon zest and ripe pear, layered with subtle notes of toasted hazelnut and wet stone, defining its mineral backbone. The aromatic expression is restrained yet highly accurate, built on balance rather than intensity.
On the palate, the wine is direct, vibrant and finely structured. Fresh acidity drives a linear and energetic mouthfeel, while the body remains agile and elegant. The mid-palate is clean and focused, leading to a long, saline and distinctly mineral finish.
“Cuvée Margot” showcases Chardonnay in its most immediate and transparent form from Chassagne-Montrachet, while still reflecting the precision and stylistic discipline of Marc Colin’s winemaking approach.
A versatile food wine, it pairs naturally with raw fish, smoked salmon, sole with butter, citrus or herb risottos, roast chicken with baby potatoes, as well as fresh and soft-ripened cheeses.
