Champagne Canard-Duchêne Brut Cuvée Léonie
The Canard-Duchêne Brut Cuvée Léonie Champagne is one of the signature expressions of this historic Maison founded in 1868 in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. It is a vibrant tribute to Léonie Duchêne, the pioneering woman and co-founder who, with vision and determination, helped establish the reputation of Canard-Duchêne worldwide. Brut Léonie perfectly embodies the values of the Maison: refinement, authenticity, and timeless elegance.
This cuvée is defined by a balanced and profound blend of Champagne’s three noble grapes: 40% Pinot Noir, which provides structure, depth, and mature aromas; 35% Chardonnay, which contributes brilliance, finesse, and mineral tension; and 25% Meunier, adding roundness, fruit, and accessibility. The result is a Champagne that combines power and delicacy in perfect harmony.
A key feature of Brut Léonie is the use of a perpetual reserve initiated in 2012, ensuring stylistic consistency and aromatic richness. Combined with the freshness of the most recent harvest, it creates a cuvée of remarkable depth and dynamism. The wine undergoes aging for at least 3 years in the historic underground chalk cellars of Domaine de Ludes, where optimal temperature and humidity allow it to develop complexity, elegance, and balance.
With a dosage below 7 g/L, the Champagne reveals its true Brut nature, highlighting freshness and purity. On the nose, Canard-Duchêne Brut Léonie opens with notes of ripe yellow fruit, citrus, white flowers, and delicate mineral hints, enriched by subtle toasted and spicy nuances. On the palate, it is vibrant, elegant, and creamy, with a fine balance between freshness and fruit-driven roundness, leading to a long and persistent finish.
Renowned for its gastronomic versatility, Brut Léonie is perfect both as an aperitif and paired with refined dishes. It pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, sushi, fish tartare, as well as delicate white meats and seasonal vegetarian dishes. Designed to elevate special occasions, this Champagne appeals equally to connoisseurs and to those beginning their journey into the world of French sparkling wines.
