Canavese Nebbiolo “Natìvo” 2019 Fratelli Marco
The Canavese Nebbiolo “Natìvo” 2019 by Fratelli Marco embodies the authentic soul of the Canavese hills, where the ancient Nebbiolo Picotèner clone finds its perfect balance between altitude, sandy soils, and morainic minerals. Inspired by the historical “nebbiolo passito” produced in the mid-19th century by Count Francesetti in Loranzè, this wine revives that local heritage through careful craftsmanship.
After a natural drying of the grapes for 3–4 weeks, which enhances aromatic concentration and texture, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature. The wine then ages for 24 months in French oak barrels and refines in bottle for another 12 months, achieving remarkable depth and complexity.
In the glass, it shows a brilliant garnet hue with orange reflections. The bouquet unfolds with layers of ripe cherry, plum jam, spices, tobacco, and hints of licorice and balsamic herbs. The palate is full and enveloping, with smooth tannins and balanced acidity that carry through to a long, elegant finish. Natìvo is a Nebbiolo of character and refinement — ideal with roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses, and perfect for slow, contemplative tasting.
