Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille 2013 Pieve Santa Restituta – Gaja
Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille 2013, produced by Gaja’s Pieve Santa Restituta estate, is a powerful, mineral, and long-lived wine from a single vineyard historically known since the 1500s. Located in the southwest of Montalcino, the Sugarille cru features galestro-rich, rocky soils that give this wine a distinctive austerity and complexity.
The 2013 vintage offered ideal conditions for slow, even ripening, leading to a perfect phenolic maturity. Fermentation is carried out in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by an extended maceration and aging of 30 months in large oak casks.
In the glass, it offers deep ruby hues and a nose full of dark cherry, wild herbs, crushed stones, tobacco, violets and sweet spices. On the palate it is dense, structured and incredibly balanced, with firm tannins and vibrant acidity leading to a long and resonant finish.
Sugarille 2013 is not only a masterpiece of Brunello terroir, but also a clear expression of Gaja’s precision and dedication to excellence. A wine to age, reflect upon, and celebrate.
