Barolo Vigna Rionda 2015 Luigi Oddero
Vigna Rionda is one of the most legendary crus of the Langhe, widely regarded as a benchmark for the noblest expression of Barolo from Serralunga d’Alba. Located at 350 meters above sea level, this amphitheater-shaped vineyard enjoys full sun exposure and marine-origin soils rich in marl and minerals, ideal for Nebbiolo cultivation.
The Barolo Vigna Rionda 2015 Luigi Oddero comes from a historic parcel of only 0.8 hectares, farmed with respect for nature, without herbicides or chemical treatments. The grapes are hand-harvested with rigorous selection, then undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a long maceration of 16-20 days. Aging continues in French oak casks for 36 months, followed by 24 months in bottle before release.
In the glass, it shows a brilliant garnet red, evolving with elegant orange reflections over time. The nose is intense and layered, with aromas of spices, undergrowth, licorice, dried flowers, and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dry, and structured, with refined tannins and an endless persistence that confirms its outstanding longevity.
A collector’s Barolo, perfect with game, roasted meats, braised dishes, and aged cheeses. Best served at 18°C in large balloon glasses to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity.
