Barolo La Serra 2018 Roberto Voerzio
This fine Barolo comes from the historic La Serra cru in the commune of La Morra, one of the great cru of Barolo. Nebbiolo grapes have been grown in this specific vineyard for over 60 years.
The soil is composed of fossilized Sant'Agata marls, sands and blue-gray clays, with a good presence of limestone. An ideal mix for slow and complete ripening of Nebbiolo.
After destemming and soft crushing, the must ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in oak vats. A long 30-day maceration with manual pumping over and punching down follows. Aging takes place for more than 2 years in 20-30hl Slavonian oak barrels.
The result is a Barolo with an intense ruby red color with garnet highlights. The nose has elegant aromas of rose, red fruits, underbrush, tobacco and spices. In the mouth it shows great structure and balance, with velvety tannins and an interminable finish. A powerful and elegant Barolo to pair with game, braised meats and aged cheeses.
