Barolo Brunate 2018 Vietti
Barolo Brunate by Vietti is a benchmark single-vineyard wine from one of the most iconic sites in the Barolo region. The Brunate cru, nestled between La Morra and Barolo, is prized for its limestone-rich, clay soils and optimal exposure, yielding powerful yet elegant Nebbiolo wines with exceptional ageing potential.
The grapes come from a parcel located in La Morra, planted with old-vine Nebbiolo at around 300 meters of altitude. Vietti employs a traditional, detail-oriented approach: manual harvest, fermentation in open-top tanks with indigenous yeasts, extended maceration, and 30 months of aging in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by bottle refinement.
In the glass, it reveals a brilliant garnet hue. The bouquet is deep and complex, with ripe wild berries, rose petals, violet, forest floor, exotic spice, and hints of balsamic herbs. On the palate, it’s majestic yet refined, with silky tannins, a powerful core, and a long, mineral-driven finish.
This is a collector’s Barolo, with the ability to cellar gracefully for several decades. Ideal with game dishes, braised meats, aged cheeses, and truffle-based cuisine, it’s a wine that captures the soul of Barolo’s finest terroir.
