Barbaresco Valeirano 2018 La Spinetta
The Barbaresco Valeirano DOCG by La Spinetta is a distinguished Nebbiolo from the Valeirano cru in Treiso (CN), one of the highest areas in the Barbaresco zone. Planted at 380 meters above sea level, the vineyard spans 2.5 hectares and features marine-origin calcareous clay soils with sandy elements, which impart a remarkable minerality and finesse to the wine.
The 55-year-old vines produce low yields and concentrated fruit. Vinification involves 14–15 days of maceration and alcoholic fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak barrels (20% new) for 20–22 months, plus 6 months in bottle.
Valeirano is a noble and structured Barbaresco, offering aromas of black tea, wild herbs, balsamic tones, and ripe red fruit. On the palate, it is deep, elegant, and savory, with fine-grained tannins and excellent aging potential.
In exceptional vintages, about 300 Magnum Riserva bottles are crafted from a selection of the best grapes and aged for at least 10 years before release.
A sophisticated choice for roasted rabbit, game ragù, or truffle dishes, this Barbaresco is a true reflection of the Treiso terroir.
