Barbaresco Pajé 2016 Roagna
Roagna’s Barbaresco Pajé 2016 offers a pure, traditional expression of the Pajé cru, located in the heart of Barbaresco. The vineyard’s limestone- and marl-rich soils, combined with a favorable microclimate, give the wine a distinctive character: elegant, mineral, and tightly structured.
The vines used for this wine are over 25 years old and grown without synthetic treatments. After meticulous manual harvesting, the Nebbiolo grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and an extended maceration of 60 to 70 days on the skins. Aging takes place in large oak casks for at least 5 years, and the wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined.
The 2016 vintage shows a brilliant garnet color and a complex nose with notes of dried rose petals, citrus peel, wild cherry, tobacco, spice, and iron-rich minerality. The palate is firm and precise, with refined tannins, bright acidity, and a long, savory finish.
A true Barbaresco, this wine reflects the Roagna family’s deep respect for tradition and terroir. It’s ideal for long aging, but also offers remarkable purity and complexity even in its youth.
