Vernaccia di San Gimignano “Tradizionale” 2021 Montenidoli
The Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG “Tradizionale” by Montenidoli is a cultural statement as much as a wine: a return to the original style of Vernaccia, historically vinified with skin contact, greater colour depth and pronounced structure. This traditional approach delivers a wine that is expressive, spicy and firmly rooted in its terroir.
Made from 100% Vernaccia grapes, sourced from ICEA-certified organic vineyards in San Gimignano, located between 250 and 350 metres above sea level, the wine reflects soils of calcareous origin with marine sediments, lending freshness, dryness and mineral precision. Vines are trained using cordon spur pruning, with a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, ensuring balance and natural concentration.
Vinification includes skin maceration, a rare practice for Vernaccia today but essential for extracting aromatic complexity, texture and spice. Ageing takes place in vitrified cement tanks, preserving varietal integrity, followed by bottle ageing.
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose reveals herbal notes and almond aromas, while the palate is dry, spicy and structured, with a long, savoury finish inspired by Mediterranean tradition.
