The Transylvanian Ice Wine 2019 Liliac & Kracher stands as one of the most distinctive and elegant sweet wines in Europe. Crafted through the partnership of Liliac Winery, a leader in Transylvanian winemaking, and Alois Kracher, Austria’s iconic dessert wine producer, it merges tradition with cutting-edge craftsmanship and terroir expression.
Produced from grapes that naturally freeze on the vine, this Ice Wine is harvested manually at around -8°C, when the fruit reaches the ideal balance between sugar concentration and aromatic intensity. The clusters are pressed whole, separating the ice crystals (water) from the must, resulting in a dense, aromatic juice. The wine then ferments and matures for 16 months in stainless steel, a choice that preserves freshness, precision, and varietal purity.
In the glass, it shines with a pale golden hue and brilliant reflections. The nose is enchanting, filled with notes of ripe peach, apricot, white flowers, and acacia honey, alongside tropical hints and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it’s sweet yet vibrant, perfectly balanced by a crisp acidity that gives it lightness and length.
The finish is long, clean, and elegant, echoing fruit and honey notes that linger gracefully. Excellent with fine pastries, blue cheeses, or foie gras, it’s also a perfect meditation wine.
