Vajra Winery is a benchmark of excellence in the Langhe region, blending tradition, precision, and innovation. Founded by Aldo Vajra in Vergne, Barolo, the winery is run with passion and dedication by Aldo, his wife Milena, and their children Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro. Vajra’s philosophy centers on sustainability and terroir expression: vineyards are managed organically, with natural cover crops and limited irrigation, ensuring the grapes fully reflect their origin.

The estate spans 60 hectares, including prestigious plots in the Bricco delle Viole, Costa di Rose, and Ravera crus. Since 2009, Vajra also manages Luigi Baudana vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, combining two distinct terroirs within the southern Piedmont hills along the Tanaro River. The temperate, well-ventilated climate with significant temperature swings promotes slow, complete ripening of grapes, allowing the development of balanced sugars, acidity, and complex aromatic profiles.

The soils are of ancient marine origin, formed during the Miocene (12-5 million years ago), and consist of calcareous-clay marls, sand, silt, and minerals in varying proportions. This geological diversity provides Vajra wines with elegant texture, aromatic richness, and distinctive finesse, setting them apart from other Langhe producers.

Winemaking is meticulous: fermentations are carried out in stainless steel or large wooden casks depending on the vineyard and wine, with carefully monitored maceration and temperature control. Aging in large casks and barriques harmonizes structure, tannins, and aromas, fully expressing each individual vineyard plot. The outcome is elegant, complex, long-lived wines that are true reflections of Vajra’s terroir and philosophy.
