The Edi Simčič winery is one of the most iconic producers in the Brda region, the Slovenian Collio, which directly borders Italy’s Collio Goriziano. This enchanting area is characterized by rolling green hills, opoka soils (marl and sandstone), perfect vineyard exposures and a Mediterranean climate tempered by Alpine breezes.

The story began in 1989, when Edi Simčič bottled his first 3,000 wines under his own label, marking the start of a new chapter for the family. Over the years, thanks to passion and dedication, the estate has grown into a benchmark of Slovenian quality winemaking. With the arrival of his son Aleks in the early 2000s, the winery embraced a style that merges tradition with innovation, always highlighting the identity of its terroir.

Today the estate farms 13 hectares of vineyards across the villages of Fojana, Kozana and Vipolže, with around 90,000 vines in total. Their approach is entirely sustainable: no herbicides, pesticides or insecticides are used, and all vineyard work is done by hand. The naturally low yields – about one bottle per vine – and the age of the vineyards ensure grapes of exceptional aromatic concentration and balance.

In the cellar, Aleks is known for his careful use of short macerations for white wines (rarely more than 4 hours), preserving freshness and finesse while achieving complexity and structure. Annual production reaches about 65,000 bottles, with a cellar capacity designed for optimal ageing in both barrique and bottle, holding several vintages at once.
