MARIO SCHIOPETTO

Mario Schiopetto Grandi BottiglieMario Schiopetto, pioneer of modern viticulture in Friuli

Mario Schiopetto's is a wine company in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the origins of which date back to 1965 when Mario Schiopetto, after having travelled to wine cellars all over Europe, set up his own company, renting old buildings from the Archbishop's Curia of Gorizia. Completely self-taught, he immediately embarked on efficient work based on technology and sensitivity, for which he became a reference point for modern winemakers in Friuli, such as abandoning the old wooden containers, increasing the vineyard layout and introducing temperature-controlled environments in the cellar.

Today his children Carlo, Giorgio and Maria Angela carry on this excellent and reliable work. The company includes 22 hectares of vineyards in the Collio area surrounding the winery and another 8 in the Oleis area, with the presence of very old vines that are worked with sustainable methods that are very careful to respect the environment through the minimum use of chemical products, replaced by natural products, and green manure for the supply of nitrogen. Most of the vines grown are native to the area and his range includes 6 labels of white wines and 2 of reds, for an annual production of about 200,000 bottles a year. Mario Schiopetto's wines are authentic and territorial and have received several awards and recognitions.
