JULES DESJOURNEYS

Jules Desjourneys Grandi BottiglieJules Desjourneys, Beaujolais wines

Domaine Jules Desjourneys is a Beaujolais winery led by Fabien Duperray. First a trader in fine wines in Burgundy, he decided to move to Beaujolais in the mid-2000s, driven by his passion for making wine. He bought a number of small plots of very old vines ranging from 65 to 100 years old, and today Domaine Jules Desjourneys has 7 hectares of Gamay in Fleurie and Moulin a Vent, as well as 10 hectares of white vines that he shares with another winegrower from Maconnais.

Fabien Duperray's work is very careful and respectful of the terroir, so the land is worked by hand and using horses to plough, and the yields in the vineyard are very low. In the winery, Duperray believes that the fermentation process is the most important element of the wine after the harvest of quality grapes, while ageing takes place in containers other than wood such as cement and glass and with a reduced use of stalks.

Fabien uses only the best corks available for his wines and then the bottles are hand dipped in wax to ensure that no oxidation occurs. The wines of Domaine Jules Desjourneys are authentic and genuine products that reflect the terroir of Beaujolais, wines designed to be long-lived but at the same time enjoyable to drink when young.
