The Domaine François Bertheau is located in Chambolle Musigny in Burgundy, and has been led since 2004 by François who represents the fifth family generation of the company, born in the late eighteenth century.
His style is based on the best representation of the soul of Chambolle Musigny, his wines bring out the typical elegance of the terroir of the municipality of residence where all his parcels are located.
The Bertheau family has remained faithful to the age-old methods of Burgundy wine, the style is traditional, think that until 2003 the wines of Domaine Bertheau were bottled by hand.
There are just under 6.5 ha the parcels of this Domaine with plants of about 50 years and only five wines proposed: Chambolle-Musigny, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru which is a cuvee of different particles spread over several 1er Cru of the municipality which are then vinified together, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, the prestigious wine of the lovers Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoreuses, and finally the jewel of the house, the Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, which unfolds half in the terres rouges and the other half in the terres blanches.
The yields in the vineyard are really very low, about half of the maximum allowed by the disciplinary, where François intervenes in a limited manner, as indeed he does in the cellar: few decantings and very little new wood, let his grapes and his wines express themselves.
The wines have an incredible bouquet of violets and strawberries, mineral and sharp confit. Dry and very classic in the finish, they express an elegant youthful femininity that brings them closer to a kind of purity, they are minerals, cutting, naked and pure, whose drinking readiness must absolutely not mislead, we are in Burgundy and the wines age magnificently!
We are faced with a champion in Burgundy, a Domaine, that of François Bertheau, without compromises, like his wines in which we find ourselves in all and all the town of Chambolle-Musigny.
