List of products by brand FAURE SIMON
Simon Faure is a young winemaker from the Mâconnais who followed an unconventional path, moving from a career as an electrician into the world of wine.
He is now based in Vergisson, in southern Burgundy, working alongside his wife Jessica, an oenologist and key partner in the project.
His first harvest dates back to 2023 and spans several key appellations, including Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé.
His vineyards are spread across a range of limestone soils, from deep and rich plots to highly rocky, low-yield parcels.
His approach is simple and respectful, focused on minimal intervention in the cellar.
The goal is to let each vineyard speak clearly through the wine without stylistic interference.
The result is a clean, precise and mineral-driven expression of Chardonnay.
A young but already very coherent and promising domaine.
Simon Faure is part of a new generation of winemakers redefining the identity of the Mâconnais, a southern Burgundy region often overshadowed by more famous appellations but increasingly recognized for its outstanding Chardonnay terroirs. His path is unconventional: originally an electrician, Simon gradually transformed a personal passion into a professional vocation, supported by his wife Jessica, an oenologist and winemaker herself.
Now based in Vergisson, at the heart of a landscape dominated by limestone cliffs and rocky outcrops, Simon Faure has built his domaine around a deep respect for terroir expression. His first vintage, produced in 2023, spans four key appellations: Mâcon-Villages, Mâcon-La Roche-Vineuse, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé.
The Mâcon-Villages parcel (0.22 ha) lies on deep, fertile soils that bring structure and roundness to the wine. In contrast, the Mâcon-La Roche-Vineuse plot (0.18 ha) is more mineral-driven, surrounded by stone walls and forests, with south-facing exposure and limestone gravel soils that enhance tension and aromatic finesse.
A cornerstone of Faure’s production is the Saint-Véran “Les Cras”, a large parcel of over one hectare located beneath the Vergisson rock. With only about 30 cm of topsoil over solid limestone, vines are forced to root deeply into the rock, producing wines of remarkable verticality, salinity and energy.
The Pouilly-Fuissé blend comes from two complementary plots: one in Fuissé with richer soils, and another on the higher slopes near Chaintré, more exposed and mineral-driven. The result is a balanced expression combining depth and freshness.
Simon Faure’s winemaking philosophy is firmly rooted in low-intervention practices. Fermentations and élevage are carried out with minimal technological input, avoiding any stylistic manipulation. The goal is to let each vineyard speak clearly and transparently.
The resulting wines are defined by precision, bright acidity and a strong mineral backbone. Aromatically, they range from white stone fruit to citrus and saline notes, with a linear, elegant structure. In particular, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé cuvées show impressive balance between richness and tension.
Simon Faure is quickly becoming one of the most promising names in the Mâconnais, contributing to a broader movement of micro-parcel-driven, terroir-focused winemaking in Burgundy. A young but already highly distinctive producer to watch closely.
