The Cottanera estate is one of the most important and big realities of the Etna wine territory. The winery is located in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, in the northern area of Etna, at 700 meters above sea level. It was founded by Francesco Cambria in the 60s, at first as a farm, given the propensity of the territory for agriculture, to be later converted into wine production in the following decades. Over the years, modernization and extension techniques have meant that the company can now count 100 total hectares of which 65 planted with vineyards. The company's production philosophy lays the foundations in respect for nature and the territory, which is applied in every working phase. Modernity does not contrast with a viticulture based on ancient traditional techniques, which underline the pride of belonging to Sicily. The terroir of Etna is also enhanced with the cultivation of native vines such as Nerello Mascalese, Carricante, Inzolia, which are flanked by international vines such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The grapes are grown with full respect for the land and nature, to allow for a healthy and healthy development of them.
