Chiussuma is a small, artisanal winery located in Carema, a remote alpine village at the northern edge of Piedmont, Italy. Here, amidst steep mountain slopes and ancient stone terraces, heroic viticulture meets the elegance and depth of Nebbiolo.

The name “Chiussuma” comes from an old local dialect and refers to a hidden mountain path — a symbol of rediscovery and resilience. This winery was born from the dream of two young local winemakers who decided to bring life back to the abandoned vineyards of the Monte Maletto, reclaiming a legacy lost to time and difficulty.

Chiussuma’s vineyards cling to the mountainside, supported by dry-stone walls and cultivated exclusively by hand, often under extreme conditions. The winery embraces sustainable and traditional practices, using indigenous yeasts, long macerations, and aging in large, neutral oak barrels.

The result is a wine that speaks of altitude, stone, and purity. Their Carema Nebbiolo is different from the Langhe: it is sharper, more vertical, with notes of alpine herbs, wild berries, wet stone and rose petals. It is a mountain wine in every sense — elegant, mineral, and full of tension.
