CAPANNA

Capanna Grandi Bottiglie

Capanna, a reference name for Brunello di Montalcino

Capanna is a renowned Tuscan estate, a reference name for Brunello di Montalcino. The estate is located in the prestigious area of Montosoli, north of Montalcino, and has been managed by the Cencioni family since 1957. Over the years, the estate has expanded by acquiring new vineyards and now has a total of 20 hectares, and exports to major European countries and the United States.

The vineyards grow in optimal conditions at a height of about 300 metres above sea level, in a cool and temperate microclimate. The south-eastern exposure allows the grapes to ripen perfectly, but they still manage to maintain an important acidity for the production of wines that are rich and complex but at the same time fresh and elegant. The most cultivated vine is Sangiovese, the absolute protagonist of the area, together with small plots of Moscato Bianco, Merlot and Pinot Grigio.

The soil is mainly clayey, with a rich presence of marl and stony skeleton, which makes it thin and very draining. Everything is managed according to sustainable principles in defence of the environment and respect for the characteristics of the terroir, of which Capanna wines are excellent and authentic expressions. Yields in the vineyard are minimal, in the cellar fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, while ageing takes place in Slavonian oak casks.
