Founded by a group of friends rooted in the land, it crafts Nebbiolo (locally “Picotendro”) from ancient terraced vineyards at 300–650 meters. The artisanal, minimal-intervention approach results in elegant, pure, and deeply expressive wines that capture the essence of Carema.

Cantina Togliana was born in the picturesque Alpine village of Carema, nestled between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. Known for producing some of the most elegant and vertical expressions of Nebbiolo in Italy, Carema is a land of heroic viticulture — and Togliana is one of its most exciting new ambassadors.

The name “Togliana” comes from a historical vineyard site near the village. The winery was founded by a group of friends deeply connected to the land, determined to preserve and elevate the traditions of this unique territory. The vineyards rise steeply on ancient stone-walled terraces between 300 and 650 meters above sea level, kissed by mountain breezes and exposed to optimal sun. Here, the local Nebbiolo clone “Picotendro” is grown entirely by hand, following sustainable and respectful practices.

In the cellar, the approach is clean, minimal, and terroir-driven: native yeast fermentations, aging in large neutral oak or used tonneaux, and minimal sulfur use. The wines are marked by clarity, finesse, and a deep sense of place, echoing the soul of Carema’s high-altitude soils and traditions.

Togliana produces two main expressions: the Riserva, more structured and age-worthy, and L’Arsin, a fresher and more accessible Nebbiolo. Limited-edition bottlings from select parcels round out the range. Though young, the winery already stands out for its vision, identity, and authenticity.
