ARCURI SERGIO

Sergio-Arcuri-Grandi BottiglieThe Cirò of Sergio Arcuri

Arcuri Sergio's company, located in Cirò Marina, on the Ionian coast of Calabria, is one of the first in southern Italy to decide to produce wine by focusing on quality and not quantity.

The origins date back to 1800, but it was with Sergio Arcuri in 2009 that the company underwent a turning point as Sergio, together with his brother Francesco, decided to bottle his own wine and make it known nationwide.

The success is due to the authenticity of the Arcuri brothers' project, animated by a great passion and love for their land: in the 3.75 hectares of the estate, they cultivate pure native vines, especially Gaglioppo. Here, the high temperatures allow the grapes, which contain a high residual sugar, to ripen very quickly.

Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, very few chemical treatments are used, fermentation is spontaneous and takes place, together with aging, in cement containers called palmenti. In the few hectares of the estate two labels are produced, a basic Cirò and a Riserva Cirò: warm and Mediterranean wines, which speak in an authentic way of the Calabrian territory.
