This Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles 2017 from Thomas Morey is made from chardonnay grapes that come from the 1er cru Les Macherelles vineyard, a large plot that is located just north of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, in a position that gives it more acidity than some Chassagne-Montrachet. The terroir here is characterised by reddish soil one metre deep. Thomas Morey's Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles 2017 has an intense straw yellow colour; on the nose it expresses an intense bouquet with hints of white fruit in particular pear and citrus with notes of honey and spice and mineral hints, while the sip is very fresh, with good balance and length. A white wine well suited to ageing, it will be enjoyed to its full capacity from two to seven years after the date of harvest.
