Chablis 1er Cru Mont Mains 2016 Raveneau
Chablis 1er Cru Mont Mains Raveneau is one of the most distinguished expressions of the Chablis terroir, interpreted by the Domaine Raveneau, widely regarded as one of the greatest references in Burgundy for precision, purity and ageing potential. The Mont Mains climat, located on the left bank of the Serein River, is known for its ability to combine vibrant acidity with deep mineral complexity.
The soils are composed of classic Kimmeridgian limestone with layers of clay marl rich in marine fossils, a geological signature that defines the saline, chalky identity of great Chablis wines.
On the nose, the wine shows remarkable complexity with mint, aromatic herbs, white flowers, fine spices and a distinct chalky, iodised character. The stylistic precision of Domaine Raveneau is evident in the clarity of fruit and the wine’s balanced evolution in the glass.
On the palate it is structured, layered and dynamic, combining ripe fruit with a strong stony and mineral backbone. The natural acidity of Mont Mains drives the wine forward, ensuring energy, verticality and persistence.
The finish is long, saline and deeply complex, marked by mineral and balsamic echoes that extend its length. The Domaine Raveneau once again delivers a wine that is firmly rooted in terroir expression, focusing on depth, precision and ageing capacity.
This Premier Cru is built for long cellaring and pairs beautifully with refined seafood dishes, especially those with strong iodised or savoury elements.
